It depends — and the number only means something against the product's natural usage frequency.

DAU/MAU is a "stickiness" ratio: the share of monthly users who engage on an average day. It's approximately "average days of use per 30-day month, divided by 30."

0.22 = the average monthly user opens the app ~6.6 days per month.

Whether that's good depends on what the product is:

Consumer utility (Spotify, YouTube)	0.30–0.50
Mid-frequency (food delivery, ride-share)	0.15–0.30

B2B SaaS (Salesforce, HubSpot)	0.40–0.80 on workdays; use WAU/MAU instead

0.22 for a ride-share or delivery app is healthy. 0.22 for a social messaging app is a crisis.

What a senior answer adds:

DAU/MAU is the wrong metric for low-frequency products. For banking or Zillow, WAU/MAU or "sessions per task" is more honest.
It's a ratio, so both directions can move it. A falling DAU/MAU can mean engagement is dying or that MAU grew faster than DAU (top-of-funnel succeeded, retention is the next problem). Decompose before interpreting.
Goodhart's Law applies. Teams chasing DAU/MAU can push notifications until DAU rises and churn catches up 3 months later. Always pair with retention curves.
Smooth the ratio. 28-day windows instead of calendar-month removes day-of-week seasonality.
